Job Description
Wasaho Cree Nation School Invites applicants for a Principal for grades JK to Grade Eight.
Must be a qualified principal; preferably with 35 years of administrative experience.
Must follow the prescribed curriculum of Ministry of Education for Ontario
Must be committed to completing the teaching year.
Must be willing to include family and community members in school activities
Must be willing to implement First Nations culture into curriculum.
Must have a working knowledge of Canadian First Nations cultures and history
Must have respect and be sensitive to First Nations Traditional Values and Culture
Must have high standards and expectations for academic achievement especially in the areas of literacy numeracy
Must foster and coordinate the development of programs with the school to best meet the needs and interests of the students teachers parents and community.
Requirements
Candidates must provide a resume with at least three references two of which should be related to recent school administration positions.
Candidates should be a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers
Must have an Ontario Teaching Certificate.
Candidates must provide a criminal record check at the time of hire.
Candidates must submit a Cover Letter describing:
Why they wish to work with Aboriginal children and their experience and/or their suitability to teach in a remote Aboriginal community.
