YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a tuitionfree public charter high school with a singular focus on supporting youth aged 1720 who have been pushed out of traditional schools. During our 1year alternative program Youthbuild facilitates a warm loving culture that uses a variety of structures to build community such as a restorativejustice approach to discipline weekly community meetings and schoolwide service projects. Students are empowered to attain their high school diploma and vocational certifications while receiving unconditional support by the staff around them. The Opportunity:
The Summer School English Language Arts Teacher serves 4 sections of YouthBuild students from July 7 2025August 1 2025 under the guidance of the Summer School Director. The Summer School English Language Arts Teacher is dynamic supportive and innovative in their support of YouthBuild students ensuring that students have access to curriculum that supports the completion of their English Language Arts graduation requirement.

- A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three to five years teaching experience preferred.
- A current certification in English Language Arts 712 preferred but not required.
What Youll Do:
You will
- Teach 4 sections of High School English Language Arts 8:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. to a class size of up to 25 students.
- Attend a one day training the last week in June to prepare for Summer Programming.
- Establish a positive and productive learning environment based on strong relationships with students.
- Design studentcentered inquirybased English Language Arts lessons that apply to real world scenarios and attend to individual learning needs.
- Guide students learning through constructive criticism encouragement and patience.
- Track student progress give frequent actionable feedback to students and communicate student progress to the greater community through PowerSchool.
- You will work in interdepartmental teams to support the success of a group of students as they move through our Summer School Learning ensuring success.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Summer School Director or School Principal.

- A competitive hourly rate for Summer School including a paid preparation period of $35.00 per hour
