Job Description
The Public Health Program in the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech seeks a Director of CommunityEngaged Experiences to support students in our MPH degree program which is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Reporting to the MPH Director this position will lead the programs efforts to prepare our students to enter the public health workforce with professionalism and practicebased experience.
Specifically this position will have administrative responsibility for all aspects of the MPH practicum experience including developing practicebased placements matching students with placements on the basis of their career goals monitoring student performance during the placement and overseeing the delivery and assessment of the required work products. The ideal candidate for this position will have a demonstrated commitment to building strong mutually beneficial relationships with a broad range of community partners. As the position will also provide career counseling familiarity with public health career pathways is also essential.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Public Health Population Health or related field
Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with diverse students faculty staff and community members
Ability to manage multiple tasks prioritize workload and meet deadlines
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Experience with database development/management and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity and working knowledge with academic program accreditation particularly regarding the demonstration and integration of practicebased competencies
Demonstrated commitment to building mutually beneficial academiccommunity partnerships
Experience setting and upholding expectations for students regarding professionalism
Demonstrated ability to teach or coteach courses related to professional development and communityengaged experiences
