Technical Officer Lateral Move

Permanent

GradeConsultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

The Technical Officer role is to provide support of a technical nature and assist officers within Local Engineering service area in the management of resources and take individual responsibility for the delivery of service. The Technical Officer will report directly to the Line Manager and assist other Officers in discharging their duties and responsibilities in relation to Local Engineering service.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Project Delivery: Contribute to local engineering and highway improvement schemes in the Capital and Revenue Programmes coordinating with Local Engineers and service teams
  2. Scheme Development: Independently develop design and implement engineering solutions ensuring alignment with corporate governance procedures.
  3. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare design solutions evaluate options and costs and create briefs evidence and reports on a range of issues to support project progression.
  4. Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to technical specifications CDM regulations and contribute to their ongoing development.
  5. Traffic Regulation Orders: Create and deliver citywide Traffic Regulation Orders both temporary and permanent in response to project needs.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement: Consult and engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and project success.
  7. Implementation of schemes: Liaise with contractors supervise scheme implementation and assist in managing project budgets and close down scheme accounts in collaboration with finance teams.
  8. Customer Relations: Respond to inquiries letters and petitions while supporting CRM enquiries.
  9. Organizational Representation: Represent the interests of the Service Group and Birmingham City Council as required
  10. Health Safety and Equality: Promote good Health and Safety practices and uphold the principles of Equality of Opportunity in both highway service delivery and employment.
