Job Title: Protection Officer
Reporting to: Project Manager Protection
Contract Type: Fulltime 37.5 hours per week)
Principal Location: Kyiv Ukraine
Length: Until 31 March 2026 (with possibility of extension subject to funding confirmation)
Salary: Net up to $1735 per month

Role Purpose

Street Child is seeking a committed individual to support the humanitarian response in Ukraine following the Russian military . This role offers the opportunity to join a wellestablished international organization and its growing team in Ukraine. The ideal candidate should have a cando attitude a strong commitment to humanitarian work and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.

We are looking for a professional with experience in humanitarian contexts particularly in child protection and mental health support interventions. Under the supervision of the Protection Project Manager the Protection Officer will oversee the implementation of daytoday project activities to ensure timely and highquality service delivery. The individual will work closely with child protection service providers case managers and MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) facilitators to uphold the projects quality standards. This role will require coordination with local implementing partners and Street Childs project team across Donetsk Sumy Dnipropetrovsk Kharkiv Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts.

The position is funded by the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund (Project No. 34832.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in ensuring effective project implementation.
  • Assist in planning organizing coordinating and monitoring project activities.
  • Identify project gaps and areas for improvement providing appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct data analysis for project evaluation and reporting.
  • Work with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team to assess project impact.
  • Provide technical support on child protection issues to local partners.
  • Assist in case management services including case reviews in the Primero system.
  • Contribute to training delivery and capacitybuilding for project personnel.
  • Support case managers in scheduling and monitoring activities.
  • Help coordinate activities in childfriendly spaces and mobile teams.
  • Gather evidence of project impact including statistical data and case studies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and filing.
  • Contribute to donor reporting to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with partners on the distribution of cash for protection support.
  • Work closely with social workers to track child protection cases.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between Street Child partners and stakeholders.
  • Represent Street Child at coordination meetings including Child Protection Cluster meetings.
  • Provide administrative and technical support throughout all project stages.
  • Support the Project Manager in assessing partner training needs and developing training materials.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned within the scope of the role.
  • Adhere to and promote Street Childs policies and values.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in the humanitarian field particularly in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Minimum one year of experience in projects focused on child protection mental health or psychosocial support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel including to insecure environments.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian (written and spoken).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in case management projects.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards and principles.
  • Experience working with local NGOs in Ukraine.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Experience in delivering training sessions or presentations.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Social Work Human Rights Child Protection or a related field.
