A Direct Care Worker (DCW) provides essential personal care and home support services to seniors in the Sellersville area. Under supervision the DCW assists with hygiene dressing mobility meal support and maintaining a clean safe and comfortable environment that promotes each clients dignity and independence.
Reports to the designated supervisor.
Category B Limited exposure.
Candidates must meet at least one of the following Pennsylvania stateapproved training standards:
Completion of a competency exam developed by the agency or qualified entity
Completion of a training program that meets all state regulations
Participation in a publicly funded Medicaid Waiver or similar home/communitybased program
Completion of a PA Department of Health (DOH)recognized training
Additional Requirements:
24 years of experience working with seniors in a home care setting
Reliable and verifiable professional references
Current CPR certification
Must pass a criminal background check TB test and physical exam
Practices good hygiene and presents professionally
Speaks reads and writes English fluently
Reliable transportation is preferred
Bathing (tub shower or bedbound clients)
Grooming oral hygiene and routine hair/nail care
Dressing toileting and feeding
Transferring mobility assistance and repositioning
Routine skin care and lotion application
Medication reminders
Meal planning and preparation including special dietary needs
Feeding as needed
Changing linens (occupied and unoccupied beds)
Laundry for client
Light housekeeping: dishes dusting vacuuming in clientused spaces
Grocery shopping and listing supplies
Follow universal precautions and infection control protocols
Maintain strict confidentiality of client information
Provide only the services outlined in each clients service plan
Respond appropriately to physical emotional and safety needs
Record services and submit documentation weekly
Report incidents or client status changes immediately
Follow emergency procedures and all agency policies
Participate in annual inservice training
Communicate with supervisors clients and families professionally
Maintain a positive attitude and presentable appearance
Must be able to lift/carry bundles up stairs (up to 10 lbs)
Able to bend stoop and travel to client homes
Must be able to hear and communicate clearly in English
