Join Our Child Development Center Team as an Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher!

Indian River State College is looking for an Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher for its Child Development Center located on its Massey Campus in Fort Pierce. As a lead teacher you will be responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes learning and development. You will work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure that each child receives individualized attention and care.

Our ideal candidate has a degree in Early Childhood Education Early Special Education or a related field and at least 2 years of related work experience in the child care industry specifically working with infants and toddlers. You should be knowledgeable about child development early childhood education and have a passion for creating a positive learning environment.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision this position implements and supervises a developmentally appropriate curriculum in all Infant/Toddler classrooms for the Colleges Day Care Center. Duties include assisting with licensing requirements; assessing children; leading teaching efforts in the classrooms; developing a good working relationship with parents; and ensuring various compliance requirements.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans organizes supports and supervises the Infant/Toddler Program; models appropriate teaching techniques; teaches (or substitutes) in the classroom; and assists with preparation and distribution of all infanttoddler progress reports to parents at least twice a year.

  • Assists with interviewing all enrolling infanttoddler parents; guides planning and evaluation for children.

  • Coordinates and attends parent conferences/meetings/functions.

  • Assists in the Centers annual DCF inspections and licensing processes; monitors program compliance throughout the year; and submits weekly reports on compliance.

  • Provides an educationally sound laboratory available to high school and College early childhood students; assists in scheduling of high school and College students into the laboratory.

  • Assists with originating purchase order requests for materials and supplies.

  • Works some evenings and weekends as required.

  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education Early Special Education or a related field; two 2 years of related work experience in the childcare industry; or any equivalent combination of education training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job.

  • Holds appropriate credentials.

  • Knowledge of Child Development Early Childhood Education and CDA requirements.

  • Skill in organizing supervising time management and prioritizing.

  • Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.

  • Ability to be accurate establish rapport with parents multitask be patient be selfmotivated; work with young children and remain calm in challenging situations.

  • Ability to implement developmentally appropriate curriculum in a classroom setting as well as model and supervise appropriate teaching techniques within the classroom.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
