Under direct supervision of the Workers Compensation Claims Manager this position is responsible for customer service and general clerical administrative duties related to Workers Compensation claims administration.Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Handles or refers telephone written and email inquiries from members and others.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
- Codes scans and attaches claim bills/records and correspondence into Kofax/Origami.
- Followsup on medical bills sent to Optum that were not returned.
- Enters new claims and providers into Origami.
- Orders Medical Records for new claims where treatment was sought.
- Enters new Stress claims.
- Forwards incoming faxes to recipients.
- Verifies if identified claim was reported by member.
- Verifies noncurrent bills to avoid duplication.
- Subrogation entry into Origami/CCAP searches.
- Reviews EOB and Payment Processes (Optum/Smartview).
- Reviews Origami claims entry with new member onboarding.
- Prints and mails large volume correspondence on behalf of the Claims Specialists.
- Enters payments for Claims Specialists (checks and vouchers).
- Reviews runs and distributes OSHA reports annually to members.
- Provides backup to the other administrative assistants as needed.
- Provides backup check printing as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- High School Diploma;
- The equivalent of one year of technical or business school training;
- One year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience working in the insurance industry is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of:- Office principles and practices;
- Basic office machines and computer software;
- Proficient use of computers and computer software including Microsoft Word Outlook Excel claims software and other business software.
Ability to:- Read and interpret documents such as medical records and legal documents.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
- Handle sensitive situations in a professional manner that reflects favorably upon the member and CVMIC.
- Effectively work as a member of a team coordinating and completing assignments in a timely manner.
- Communicate professionally timely and effectively both orally and in writing.
