Job Description

Homebridge believes that quality care comes from skilled and supported caregivers. As Californias largest employertrainer of caregivers and the States largest IHSS agency provider Homebridge operates multiple programs that benefit caregivers and their clients across the State.

In San Francisco Homebridge provides nearly 1/2 million hours of inhome care to more than 1000 complexlydiagnosed IHSS MediCAL beneficiaries each year with a staff of more than 300 caregivers.

Position Summary

The Director of Finance oversees daytoday accounting operations and is responsible for timely and accurate financial budgeting forecasting and reporting. The Director of Finance ensures that solid teams systems and controls are in place to support effective and efficient financial operations. The Director of Finance oversees all members of the Finance department staff.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage coordinate and review all accounting functions including accounts receivable accounts payable payroll and state/city reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements including Income Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and monthly forecast processes in close partnership with the Senior Analyst.
  • Design and produce financial reports for various audiences including internal department managers and the Board of Directors. Leverage business insights from the Senior Analyst.
  • Lead financial and contract Audits coordinating audits responses. Manage timely filing of all required tax returns and other statutory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and organizational policies. Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and complete financial records.
  • Participation in 403b Committee and work with T&P to manage plan and ensure ERISA compliance.
  • Oversee allocation methodology for shared functions into the payroll and accounting systems.
  • Partner with Payers on contract development financial obligations and budget modifications. Deliver Payer reports aimed at ensuring contract compliance.
  • Enhance financial systems and processes for improved efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices in financial management and reporting.
  • Drive the implementation of scalable accounting systems including enhancing the use of automation and technology. Partner with the IT team as necessary to identify and implement technology solutions.
  • Lead the conversion to a fully electronic filing system.
  • Draft implement and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures including data conversion from operations to Payroll to the G/L. Educate and monitor agency staff to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • As a member of the Directorlevel leadership team work crossfunctionally to advance the strategic plan of the agency including actively participating in team meetings and projects designated by the Executives.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure senior managers/Directors have accurate financial information to manage their components of the business. Support other departments with applications and reporting for RFPs and Grants.
  • Interact effectively with financial vendors including banking services and auditors to optimize our use of their services.
  • Develop mentor and train finance team members to match the needs of a growing business. Develop goals conduct performance appraisals and provide guidance and feedback.
  • Promote a strong customer service mentality within the accounting department.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Expert understanding of GAAP. Thorough knowledge of legal tax and special accounting needs within the nonprofit environment including restricted funds and grant accounting.
  • Experience with county and federal government contracts and healthcare organizations.
  • Proven ability to hire manage supervise and motivate an accounting team.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage clearly and effectively with internal and external constituents both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze interpret and report financial data to nonfinancial audiences.
  • Outstanding collaboration skills working closely with other key leaders (Program HR Business Intelligence in the organization to comanage financial results.
  • Ability to drive technology initiatives. Extensive experience with and knowledge of accounting reporting and spreadsheet systems and software. Experience in ERP implementations and working in an automated accounting environment. Possess or develops expert knowledge of our accounting software.
  • Experience designing and implementing financial controls and processes
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands; manage deadlines and prioritize workloads; establish and maintain positive cooperative and productive working relationships.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Accounting Finance or related field and/or equivalent work experience required; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 810 years of progressively responsible professional experience in accounting including experience at an organization with a budget of $40 million or greater and multiple lines of business.
  • 510 years of experience in people management and mentorship experience.

Work Environment

This position is primarily sedentary working at a desk in a temperaturecontrolled office in a modular office space or an individual office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hybrid work environment with some inoffice days required. Some nights and weekends are required.

San Francisco Pay Range
$150000$180000 USD
