The Region Services S3 and Glacier Engineering team are looking for a talented engineer who is motivated to solve complex challenges yet are not constrained by how things are usually done and are willing to decompose and reinvent systems processes and tools. If you possess that rare mix of depth in Operations Networking and System development then we are waiting for your application.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) builds and operates some of the largest internet infrastructure on the planet; providing companies of all sizes with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud. With AWS customers provision compute power storage database and other cloud resources as their business demands them. To meet the growing demand for AWS Services around the globe we need exceptionally motivated people who are driven by learning and innovation.
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3 and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2 to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (Iot) Platform and Productivity Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
Be actively involved in daily engineering activities providing handson technical guidance and support.
Define architecture design and proofofconcept efforts for endtoend project delivery ensuring high quality and simplicity in complex systems.
Design implement deploy and maintain innovative distributed system software to enhance service security durability availability performance and costefficiency.
Take ownership of complex projects managing broad scopes with autonomy and accountability.
Communicate with customers and technical teams to define technical strategies and ensure alignment with business goals.
Stay current with evolving technologies proactively researching new advancements to recommend and integrate into projects.
Apply software engineering best practices to maintain a high standard of quality across all team deliverables.
A day in the life
On a typical day engineers might dive deep into understanding the root cause of a customer issue investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way consult with top engineers at Amazon or discuss radical new approaches to automate solutions to operational issues.

Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking storage operating systems)
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience in networking storage systems operating systems and handson systems engineering
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C C# Java Python Golang PowerShell Ruby
Experience with Linux/Unix
Experience building services using AWS products
Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment
