Job Description

Summary

The Internal Communications Specialist will develop and execute inclusive messaging that supports firms diversity equity and inclusion objectives enhances employee engagement and fosters a positive firm culture. This position works closely with relevant stakeholders across the firm to deliver impactful communications that reflect the firms values and leverage various platforms technologies and tools to drive communication initiatives.

Required Education & Experience

  • College degree in Communications English Public Relations or a related field.
  • 4 or more years of experience in internal communications or a related field.
  • Excellent writing grammar editing and proofreading skills; ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Knowledge of diversity equity and inclusion fundamentals and concepts.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word Power Point Outlook Excel spreadsheets.
  • Have the ability to be discreet maintain confidential information and use sound judgment.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree or relevant certification.
  • Law firm or professional services environment experience.
  • Large law firm experience a plus.

  • Inclusive Communications 30
    • Develop and execute an internal communications plan that aligns with the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Departments vision and strategy supports firm operations and enhances employee engagement.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to align internal messaging with the firms goals and ensure effective proactive communication throughout the organization.
    • Cultivate relationships with departments impacting firm culture including WellBeing Pro Bono and Human Resources and identify opportunities for crosspromotional efforts.
    • Provide communication guidance and talking points to leaders to ensure consistency effectiveness and inclusivity.
  • Content Development and Management 30
    • Create write and edit content for diverse audiences such as internal announcements newsletters and presentations ensuring alignment with the firms voice style and tone.
    • Serve as a resource for underrepresented personnel to obtain information regarding existing firm policies and procedures.
    • Oversee the approval process for communications content with relevant stakeholders.
    • Oversee the administration of the DEI Departments intranet page including the creation and management of news content and updates.
    • Produce content for key deliverables such as the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Annual Report key meetings and executive communications.
    • Design basic graphic and video elements in alignment with the firms visual brand collaborating with the inhouse creative team as needed.
  • Project Management Collaboration & Best Practices 20
    • Manage the internal communications calendar and project trackers to ensure timely and effective delivery of communication initiatives.
    • Manage internal communication avenues including intranet email campaigns and ad hoc updates.
    • Support projects related to enhancing the firms highperformance and collaborative culture.
    • Work with public relations awards social media and events teams on initiatives with internal and external crossover.
    • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in internal communications integrating innovative ideas into communication strategies.
  • Reporting and Analysis 15
    • Compile and present routine reports to assess the impact of internal campaigns and provide recommendations for improvements.
    • Analyze communication effectiveness and make datadriven recommendations for future strategies.
  • General and Administrative 5
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative writer and storyteller able to engage an audience through both logic and emotion.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint. Proficiencies in other presentation platforms such as Prezi or Canva are a plus.
  • Selfmotivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly professional with a strong customer service orientation commitment to meeting deadlines and ability to multitask in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong professional independent thinking skills with strength in problem solving and the ability to offer constructive opinions and creative solutions.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the responsibilities of the position these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the person in this position will encounter. While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in a professional fast paced office environment that may require additional hours to complete work.

These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
