Job Description

Introduction

Maryland Public Television commonly known as MPT is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware Pennsylvania Virginia and West Virginia. MPT is Marylands only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Main Purpose of Job

Fiscal Accounts Technician in the Accounts Payable section are responsible for ensuring the timelyaccurate review evaluation determination of propriety and processing of all nonpayroll relateddisbursements. The selected candidate will ensure that the preparation and processing ofdisbursement transactions are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)COMAR and the Annotated Code of Maryland and that any issues discrepancies or errors arisingfrom the processing of these transactions are investigated and resolved. The employee will auditand evaluate transactions and ensure propriety and completeness. The incumbent will performreconciliations of financial data between multiple financial systems.

POSITION DUTIES

Process accounts payableinvoices and working fund transmittals and adjustments in FMIS.

Assist Procurement unit in thereview of purchase order request.

Reconcile employee traveladvances as well as expenses reported by employees on travel expense reportsaccording to State travel guidelines insuring accuracy.

Assist in the budgetpreparation by compiling data in spreadsheets.

Assist Accounting & Financeoffice personnel with revenue and expenditure transactions relating to codingand compliance with State regulations.

Email all energy invoices toBITH Energy group as received.

Reconcile annual 1099 reportfrom GAD.

Requests weekly and monthlyrevenue and expense report from FMIS and uploads to the Business office shareddrive.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school orpossession of a high school

equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three 3 years of experience reviewingverifying recording adjusting

and balancingfinancial transactions.

Note:

Candidates may substitute experiencedeveloping and implementing fundraising or communications

strategies on a year for year basis for therequired education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants whopossess the following preferred

qualification(s). Include clear and specificinformation on your application regarding your

qualifications.

  • Experience in a fiscal administrative and/or office management role
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suites Google Meet Google Docs and verbal/ writtencommunication skills
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems familiarity with FMISADPICS approval process
