Job Description

JOB ASSIGNMENT: Special Education Program Five Star Sunbury

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Operations Assistant will report directly to the Program Supervisor and in their absence to the Director of Special Education and Alternative Placement.

JOB DEFINITION: The Operations Assistant will be responsible for the overseeing all aspects of the School Nutrition Program (SNP) for students within the 5 Star Program. The Operations Assistant will also be responsible for daily cleaning and summer deep cleaning for the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Communicates with the local school district to arrange breakfast and lunch daily. Check that all meal components received are following the School Nutrition Program (SNP).
  2. Maintain required documentation as mandated for approved School Nutrition Programs (temperature logs daily lunch orders daily meal counts production records and menu revisions) and submit as indicated on a monthly basis to providing district and/or CSIU SNP designated staff.
  3. Organizes all required school nutrition program documentation and submits to school nutrition program administrator following scheduled due dates.
  4. Follow United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines including but not limited to Civil Rights Officer VS Serve ServSafe and follow all regulations.
  5. Oversees and maintains documentation for additional staff required to complete annual trainings as per USDA guidelines including but not limited to Civil Rights Offer VS Serve ServSafe and follow all guidelines and regulations for staff who have school nutrition program responsibilities.
  6. Works with the USDA for compliance with inspection of food safety twice/year.
  7. Ensure that all current required SNP related notices menus and current food inspection reports are posted in a publicly visible location.
  8. Work with providing district staff regarding pickup and delivery of daily meals and any revisions needed to menus.
  9. Serve meals on a daily basis and organize proper cleanup of serving area cleaning of plates utensils and serving containers and lunchroom and ensure that providing districts items are returned.
  10. Keep an inventory of supplies (paper products) needed for meal service and place orders as needed.
  11. Creates staff schedules for serving meals for the program.
  12. Pick up transport and/or accept breakfast and lunch daily.
  13. General center cleanup e.g. sweep floors empty trash clean bathroom fill Clorox bottles mop floors scour sinks clean mirrors clean garbage cans etc.
  14. The following duties and responsibilities will be assigned on a daily basis:
    • clean horizontal surfaces classroom desks conference room tables staff desks etc.
    • vacuum and wet mop cafeteria and kitchen floors with disinfectant
    • wipe down the stove refrigerator sink and counter area
    • empty and reline all trash cans on all floors
    • clean restrooms all toilets urinals sinks
      • clean horizontal surfaces window sills ledges etc.
      • disinfect door handles light switches and partition handles
      • vacuum and wet mop all hard surface floors with disinfectant
      • clean and disinfect sinks toilet bowls including base and outside of toilet bowls urinals including outside of urinals
      • clean and sanitize all fixtures
      • spot clean walls and wipe partitions to include tops and doors
      • restock all paper products and hand soap
      • clean mirrors
      • empty trash and reline cans
    • clean and sanitize any unexpected spill or accidents following appropriate bloodborne pathogen protocols.
  15. The following duties and responsibilities will be assigned at least two 2 days per week:
    • thoroughly dust all horizontal surfaces window sills baseboards partitions ledges etc.
    • vacuum all floors
    • wet mop tile floor and damp mop wooden floors
    • check and remove cobwebs
    • dust mop and wet mop hallways stairways and landing (cleaning a set on the opposite night that the classrooms get cleaned)
    • clean entryway glass
  16. Summer deep cleaning will occur:
    • Deep clean of all doors walls and windows.
    • Deep clean of kitchen/cafeteria flooring and stairwells.
  17. Order all cleaning supplies (paper products soap products trash can liners toilet brushes mops mop buckets cleaning rags and poly dusters) from the office.

NONESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or designee.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Work experience and training with USDA guidelines including but not limited to Civil Rights Offer VS Serve and ServSafe is preferred.
  • Must have an interest in and concern for children and their families.
  • Must have a willingness to learn.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of basic food preparation proper conditions of food storage and basic math skills for measuring and calculating food portions is required.
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow special food plans for food allergic children or for children with other food service special needs.
  • Knowledge sanitary procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize duties based on deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Must have ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues coworkers community agency personnel and students/trainees.
  • Requires the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships using tact and diplomacy and to remain calm in unpredictable situations.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current approved Act 34 (PA State Police) Act 151 (PA Child Abuse Registry) and Act 114FBI Fingerprint clearances are required and must be renewed at appropriate specific intervals pursuant to Act 153 of 2014 (revised Act 15 of 2015.
  • Current approved Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training certificate showing completion of a minimum of three 3 hours training every five 5 years.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain required annual trainings as per USDA guidelines including but not limited to Civil Rights Offer VS Serve and ServSafe.
  • Attend and make use of appropriate training and make use of appropriate training as requested by immediate supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sedentary: Able to sit for extended periods of time occasional walking standing (as necessary) and strength and ability to lift insulated carriers packed with lunch foods (approx. 50 lbs.. Ability to serve food to children and adults in a specified time period.
  • Dexterity: Finger movements (computer keyboard calculator) eyehand coordination (office equipment etc..
  • AudioVisual Requirements: Within normal range with or without correction.
  • Is able to move throughout all buildings floors and grounds.
  • Worksite Environment: Primarily indoorsoffice setting with occasional exposure to outdoor elements/climate during the day.
  • Mental demands: Steady response to unpredictable situations ability to remain calm and productive during stressful situations. Demonstrates independent judgment discretion and is able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ability to travel to various work site locations and meetings as needed.

TIME AND SITE REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a nonexempt 200 day fulltime position and follows the program schoolyear schedule. Additional working hours must be preapproved by immediate supervisor.
  • Attendance at work is a requirement of this position; any and all absences must be approved by the immediate supervisor.
