Position Summary
The Department of Astronomy at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the level of associate or full professor in exoplanet science especially in theoretical studies of exoplanet atmospheres or exoplanet formation. We also welcome applications from exceptional pretenure individuals with strong research portfolios. We seek candidates with active research programs who can take advantage of the robust high performance computing resources available on our campus and who are committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. A second position in planetary atmospheres is offered by the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences to build a strong program in this area. Indiana University is a partner in the consortium that operates the WIYN 3.5meter telescope at Kitt Peak and associated instrumentation including the NEID extreme precision radial velocity spectrometer. In addition IU has excellent information technology infrastructure including TeraGrid computing resources supercomputer capability and massive and rapid access data storage systems as well as an innovative School of Informatics and Computing and an Advanced Visualization Laboratory that supports IU researchers.
