This position will provide supervision/education of residents and medical students within the department of Anesthesiology specifically and primarily related to obstetric anesthesiology. Rank is dependent on qualifications.Job Description:
Job Duties:
- Provide clinical supervision of residents and medical students or significant involvement with each resident when supervising
- Attend GMEC committees conferences etc. as requested by the Chair or Program Director
- Participate in ad hoc GME activities
- Complete monthly resident evaluations within 1 week of the end of their rotation
- Attend educational sessions - M&M conferences Journal Clubs visiting professors etc.
- Provide minimum of 2 didactics per year
- Participate in semi-annual Clinical Competence Committee processes
- Participate in departmental simulations and research activities

Required Qualifications:
Education:
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified in Anesthesiology (or actively pursuing such certification if less than 4 years from the end of residency)
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements institutional standards of academic and professional excellence alignment with peer institution benchmarks and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Work Experience: Must be eligible for medical staff membership at a KU School of Medicine-Wichita affiliated institution (Ascension Via Christi Hospital or Wesley Medical Center)
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Fellowship training in obstetric anesthesiology or equivalent experience.
Skills:
- Demonstrated didactic and intra-operative teaching skills
- Knowledgeable of ACGME residency requirements
