SALARY INFORMATION
Equipment Operator Journey 1 .. $ 31.75/Hour
Equipment Operator Journey 2 .. $ 33.54/Hour
What you will be doing:Equipment Operator Journey 1/2:
Operate Equipment:Set up and operate various heavy equipment for maintenance tasks including snow removal hauling drainage and infrastructure repairs.
Equipment Inspections & Maintenance:Perform pretrip and posttrip inspections operator maintenance (fluid checks cleaning blade changes) and assist with shop upkeep.
Infrastructure & Bridge Maintenance:Maintain roads bridges drainage structures signage guardrails and landscaping. Perform bridge repairs including painting sandblasting and concrete work with potential for summer travel.
Snow & Ice Removal:Operate plows sanders graders and other equipment for snow removal applying abrasives and handling snow haul operations.
Emergency Response & Winter Safety:Respond to road hazards flooding debris removal and other emergencies. Mark and clear obstructions and ensure safe winter working conditions.
Traffic Control:Set up traffic control for work zones using devices like arrow boards flagging and other methods for both winter and summer maintenance activities.
Material Spill Response:Address material spills typically caused by equipment leaks or accidents.
Training & Specialized Equipment:Attend required training (e.g. Traffic Control First Aid/CPR OSHA) and train on heavyduty equipment for snow and ice control including preparation for the WG 53 test.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is based along the Dalton Highway in Alaska within the Dalton District and is a roving role. As a roving position you will be required to travel across various locations within the district performing maintenance and emergency response tasks on the highway and surrounding infrastructure. This offers a unique opportunity to work in diverse environments and contribute to the upkeep of one of Alaskas most iconic and challenging roadways. Expect a dynamic fastpaced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. Youll work independently and as part of a team often in challenging weather or terrain. Shift work and emergency responses are part of the role and safety is a priority. Our supportive team and ongoing training ensure you have the tools to succeed in any situation.
