Berns Garden Center & Landscaping is seeking a fulltime Landscape Designer to be involved in all aspects of project development sales and design including presentations preparations schematic designs planting plans planting specifications and project administration. Additional responsibilities for the role include:
Responsibilities:
- Preparing reviewing and approving drawings and renderings as required.
- Coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
- Develop review and implement construction documents project budgets and schedules.
- Prepares site plans working drawings specifications and cost estimates for land development showing ground contours vegetation locations of structures and such facilities as roads walks parking areas fences walls and utilities coordinating arrangement of existing and proposed land features.
- Preparation of cost estimates including project research alternates and quality take offs.
- Participates in regularly scheduled project meetings.
- Maintains relationships with owners consultants and employees at all levels.
- Assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
- Reviews and understands assignments and tasks and how they fit into strategic project goals.
- Must maintain customer contact throughout sales process including payment collection.
- Responsible for estimating and maintaining acceptable gross margin on all opportunities.
- Work with production team to see that customer needs are met and quality meets Berns standards.
- Must have expert knowledge of plant material based on hardiness size growth habit and exposure. Will source plants that are readily available.
Qualifications :
Requirements:
- A bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture or Horticulture Design and/or 5 years of professional experience.
- Up to 50 of this job is performed inside the office and the remaining 50 is outside travel and sales; required.
- Proficiency in current technologies: AutoCAD or other design software Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office are required. Knowledge and use of Aspire software is a plus.
- Field experience and horticultural knowledge is required.
- Ability to travel domestically as required.
- Valid Ohio Driver License is required.
- Prior customer service and/or sales experience is a plus.
- Polite courteous patient and the ability to handle difficult people with tact.
- Have strong attention to detail and proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to function as part of a team collaborate with colleagues and change priorities as dictated by workflow.
