The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE) is seeking a new member of the Executive Office team who enjoys working both independently and as part of an upbeat group and desires to help meet our mission of supporting Alaskans in achieving their education goals. The successful incumbent selected for this position will support the activities of the agency by performing a variety of highlevel administrative support functions and services. They include serving as the main recruitment contact processing payroll for the agency and serving as the Travel Coordinator. This position works closely with a professional team to implement strategic priorities and improve effectiveness and efficiency of administrative processes within the Human Resource and travel sections.

ACPE is the States higher education agency providing education and career funding solutions. Our Juneau office is conveniently located in the Vintage Business Park area of Mendenhall Valley with plenty of available parking close to the bus lineand several restaurants. Positions with the Commission are eligible for all State of Alaska health care leave and retirement benefits.

This position requires:
  • High attention to detail
  • Effective communication with a wide audience through business letters and reports emails and Microsoft Teams
  • Selfmanagement and the ability to adapt and prioritize tasks as they come
  • Trainability utilizing internal as well as general State of Alaska policies and procedures in areas such as payroll travel purchasing and reconciliation and recruitment
  • High level of integrity while handling sensitive Human Resources topics
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook experience with IRIS preferred

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent certificate and two 2 years of advanced administrative support experience.

Substitution: Relevant postsecondary education may be substituted for the required work experience on a yearforyear basis.

Preference will be given individuals with human resource or payroll experience.

Range 13 is the normal entry level for this Administrative Assistant position. However this position is a flex Range 13/14 that may be filled at the level commensurate with the successful applicants level of relevant experience and knowledge when there is a business need for the more complex work of the higher range. If initial placement is at Range 13 in order to flex to Range 14 a position incumbent must consistently demonstrate competency in all of the essential and marginal functions of the position; produce completed staff work of the highest quality; meet established deadlines without fail; and be recommended for flexing by the Executive Director and Human Resources Administrative Officer.
