POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Worker
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a wide variety of general and skilled maintenance activities maintaining the main campus facilities and other designated college facilities in a safe operating condition.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform maintenance service adjustments installation or repairs in one or more skill areas including but not limited to plumbing carpentry painting electrical HVAC machine and mechanical equipment and vehicles.
- Inspect facilities systems and their components to identify and report needed repairs.
- Construct items to modify and/or adapt facilities to specific needs.
- Respond to alarms and emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
- Follow and support all policies college and governmental including OSHA rules safety regulations and guidelines.
- Observe safety standards and practices including operation of jobrelated equipment. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
- Responsible for the proper care and upkeep of all equipment used while completing assigned tasks.
- Responsible for ensuring buildings are appropriately secure/doors locked/lights off prior to leaving the assigned work area.
- Assist in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside vendors when required.
- Respond and complete assigned work orders.
- Act as an emergency 24hour oncall contact carrying the oncall phone on a rotating schedule.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will carry an assigned Eureka College communication device during work hours when provided.
- Maintain rooms and storage areas in clean and orderly condition.
- Assist with inventory control and security of supplies.
- Review safety materials when provided.
- Attend required weekly meetings.
- Assist in cleaning and sanitation.
- Assist with furniture and equipment setups for meetings classrooms conferences events and so forth.
- Assist with grounds maintenance.
- Keep walkways clear and free of hazards including snow and ice by applying ice melt which may require early morning arrival.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: None
EDUCATION:
Essential: High School diploma or GED
Desirable: Associates degree in related field technical or trade school program completion or equivalent apprenticeship
EXPERIENCE:
Essential: 24 years of related work experience
Desirable: Higher education environment
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Appropriate certification in major skill area. Valid drivers license.

Payrate: $17 to $20 per hour based on skill and experience.

Physical Environment: May require transfer between buildings in outdoor weather conditions. Work may be performed in areas that are not adequately lighted and ventilated. Variations in temperature may be experienced. The noise level is moderate to loud.
Physical Demands: May require climbing of stairs. Requires agility dexterity and long periods of walking standing bending carrying and lifting of supplies and equipment weighing 50 lbs. or more. May wear protective clothing necessitated by work environment or governmental regulations.
Sensory Attention: Vision abilities include close distance color peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Normal work schedule for fulltime positions is 8 hours per day MondayFriday parttime schedule is normally 4 hours per day. Flexibility to cover emergency repairs vacation schedules or special events occasionally may be required.
