The primary purpose of the Office of Career and Technical Education is to provide statelevel oversight technical assistance and leadership to all Public School Units (PSUs) for the improvement of secondary education programs and for planning implementing and monitoring of state and federally funded Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and services. Services provided include analyzing and interpreting state and federal laws regulating state policies. This position focuses on curriculum acquisition assessment acquisition professional development collaboration with CTSOs and workbased learning.
The Section Chief reports to the Assistant Director for CTE and provides leadership for the staff who develop and support implementation of Computer Science IT and Technology Education K12 standards. The Section Chief will provide visionary leadership to deliver the NC Standard Course of Study for Computer Science Standards and the CTE Course Inventory. The position will also be responsible for supporting the goals and objectives of the NC State Board of Education as well as the Federal Carl D. Perkins Act. This position is expected to provide expertise in current instructional practices in Computer Science IT and Technology Education and will facilitate the planning of professional learning (which may include face to face virtual and/or blended opportunities) to support standards implementation and program support. All responsibilities are related to Career and Technical Education.

Masters degree in education or in the special education field to which assigned from an appropriately accredited institution and four years progressively responsible experience in public education or a Doctoral degree in education or in the special education field to which assigned from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressively responsible experience in public education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
