Job Description
The University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a fulltime 9month) tenuretrack faculty that will be jointly appointed with the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing and the College of Engineering. This position offers the unique opportunity to join a strong team of collaborators between these colleges in the Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation as well as part of the larger Universitywide Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS) and its Center for Personalized Health Monitoring (CPHM). Eligible candidates for this position may be appointed to a Marieb endowed professorship addition the successful candidate is expected to take a leadership role in large collaborative sponsored research projects.
Individuals will be considered in all areas of basic/applied research in nursing and engineering who have an impact on the development of human factors medical devices (e.g. bioelectronic systems robotics biomechanics systems biology bioinformatics operations research) operations or other related nursing and engineering research topics.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in nursing engineering or joint interprofessional courses supervise graduate students contribute significantly to the advancement of engineering/nursing/healthcare applications establish a vibrant independent research program and play an active role in the community and academic service activities in the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing and the College of Engineering as well as in the wider University.
Requirements
Applicants must have an earned PhD in nursing or engineering with relevant medical experience and a focus on healthcare. The position is open to individuals with qualifications that allow them to be appointed at the rank of associate or full professor and will be a candidate for the anticipated Elaine Marieb Professorship. The successful candidate will have a stellar track record in research in nursing and engineering including extramural funding teaching and leadership as well as a commitment to diverse and crossdisciplinary academic and industrial collaborations. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an internationally recognized scholarly presence. Candidates will also be expected to teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses in our curriculum in relevant Nursing and Engineering courses in addition to developing courses that combine these areas of expertise. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
