Position Summary
The Robert A. and Sandra S. Borns Jewish Studies Program at Indiana Universitys center for scholarly and cultural exchange with Israel the Olamot Center welcomes applications for a Visiting Lecturer position and Melanie and Andrew Goodman Postdoctoral Fellow for the academic yearwith the possibility of renewal for a second year contingent on successful performance and available funding. Founded in 2017 the Olamot Center aims to realize the substantial potential for scholarly dialogue and collaboration with scholars in Israeli institutions of higher learning by offering Israeli scholars an opportunity to teach and conduct research in one of the largest and oldest Jewish Studies Programs in North America. The Olamot Center Visiting Lecturer and Postdoctoral Fellow will teach two undergraduate courses per semester in the history society and culture of modern Israel complementing the offerings of the Borns Jewish Studies Program 4 courses in total). The Fellow will also present at a workshop for the Program on their main area of research. The Fellow is expected to participate in the activities of the Borns JSP and to contribute to intellectual life at IU. Ph.D. is required ABD candidates will be considered). The Fellow is responsible for arranging their own travel housing accommodation and living expenses during their term of appointment August 2023 through May 2024 and must be able to fulfill their teaching responsibilities on the Indiana University Bloomington campus while classes are in session Covid permitting.
