Duties and Responsibilities:

Office Assistant Duties:
1 Represents the department at the front desk area with a positive friendly and helpful attitude.
2 Provides frontline customer service facetoface or on the phone to students parents faculty/staff and members of the community.
3 Assists callers and visitors with contact information for offices/resources when appropriate.
4 Assists department staff with general offices duties and clerical/administrative work including but not limited to: filing delivering messages returning phone calls sort mail and deliver mail construct informational packets make copies etc.
5 Assembles materials documents etc. as related to the department and its processes and procedures.
6 Assists in the maintenance of various department documents using Microsoft Office suite.
7 Accurately file documents within established departmental filing system.
Document Management duties:
1. Assists in maintaining and/or setting up filing systems. Assists in completion and processing of forms records and other documents in accordance with established procedures.
2. Copies and scans records reports and other documents. Sorts collates and binds copied materials as needed. Assists in researching and compiling information for reports records forms and other.
3. Enters data into established computer databases and spreadsheets and generates reports as requested.
4. Maintains confidential or sensitive records and information.
Other duties include:
Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information.
Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty staff students and members of the community.
Work a consistent reliable schedule and exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Word Excel PowerPoint
Skill in: Professionalism; Customer service;Written and verbal communication; Telephone and computer skills (including fundamental understanding of Microsoft Office).
Ability to: Manage time; Complete all duties while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive records and information; Follow directions; Work in a team environment; Hold consistent reliable schedule; Must be able to work independently.
Minimum/General Qualifications:
This position requires applicants to have Federal Work Study as part of their current Financial Aid package with Columbus State. You must also be enrolled in SIX or more credit hours in a degree or certificate program. Visit for a full explanation of eligibility requirements or visit Nestor Hall 113 to request Federal Work Study if you were not awarded it already. Any applicants without Federal Work Study eligibility will not be considered for this position.
Applicants must have received a high school diploma or a certificate of attendance from an accredited secondary school or a certificate of high school equivalence and be exempt from Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109.
Must have reliable transportation or other means to get to work regularly.
Students enrolled as Transient College Credit Plus Undecided or otherwise nondegreeseeking are not considered eligible for Student Employment.
Schedule:
TBD by the needs of department and student schedule between office hours of Monday Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Maximum 20 hours per week.
Work will be performed: Onsite only.

The program consists of brief structured conversations between supervisor and student to reflect on and integrate what they are learning. All student employees and their functional supervisors participate in this program during Autumn and Spring semesters.

The program consists of paid competencybased career and leadership development activities designed by Career Services. All Tier/Level III positions are automatically enrolled in this program.
