Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroimaging

(Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai New York NY)

The BioMedical Engineering and Imaging Institute (BMEII) at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to optimize and apply novel MRI techniques in neuroimaging with applications to Alzheimers disease and study of the gutbrain axis. This is an excellent opportunity to conduct innovative imaging research as a member of a team of technical and clinical experts with access to stateoftheart imaging equipment housed at the Hess Center for Science and Medicine in New York City. https://bmeiisinai/anrp/. The position will be based in the Neuroimaging group mentored by Dr. Priti Balchandani Director of the Advanced Neuroimaging Research Program with an affiliation with the Program in Neuroimaging and Biomarker Research in Aging and Alzheimers Disease mentored by Dr. Trey Hedden responsibilities include independent research contributions to publications and grants and leadership roles within the Institute. Opportunities for teaching also exist. The candidate will primarily work on implementation of MRI acquisition and analysis methods at 7T and on translational research integrating human neuroimaging and gut microbiome data in Alzheimers Disease. The work will consist of MR pulse sequence optimization image acquisition on patients and healthy volunteers and postprocessing of imaging data. The postdoctoral fellow is also encouraged to develop their own research projects within the mission areas of the BMEII. The candidate should have a PhD in one of the following: Engineering Physics Chemistry Mathematics Computer Science Neuroscience or a related field. Demonstrated research experience and publication records are necessary. Experience with statistical analyses methods is preferred.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and the cost of living in New York. Subsidized housing close to the Mount Sinai campus is available.

The BMEII at Mount Sinai is a stateoftheart research facility with a mission centered on development validation translation and education of innovative technology in biomedical imaging to address both basic and clinical research problems. The center currently houses multiple research dedicated instrumentation including 3T and 7T human MRI scanners 3T PET/MR PET/CT 9.4T and 7T small animal MRI scanners. Along with the material resources the BMEII has over 45 members with expertise in a variety of translational research from neuroimaging to nanomedicine. Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai attracts outstanding scientists clinicians and students all of whom share a deep commitment to expanding biomedical knowledge providing expert clinical care and serving the community. Working in close partnership with The Mount Sinai Hospital the Icahn School of Medicine serves one of the most diverse and complex patient populations in the world.

The postdoctoral position at BMEII is a fulltime research position. Initial appointment will be for one year with renewable appointments for subsequent years. Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58661 $60788 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including experience education and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
