Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care within Supported Living homes in Lane County and will provide staffing support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). This is a full time permanent position.
This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule works well independently and has exceptional communication and decisionmaking skills. Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes.
What Youll Do
- Provide client care in a float capacity for schedules emergencies or fillin assignments at designated supported living homes
- Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment
- Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and selfcare.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including dressing bathing grooming toileting and eating.
- Implementing positive behavior supports
- Prepare meals and snacks.
- Light household duties
- Provide mobility and transfer assistance which may include using mechanical lift devices.
- Community activities and outings
- Assist with transportation needs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- 1 years of DSP/Caregiving experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is required. Experience in Supported Living strongly preferred
- Must have valid drivers license & vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients
- Must be able to work flexible hours (days/evenings) SundayThursday
- Must be able and willing to learn different supports from medical to behavioral
- Have a passion to help others
- Works well independently
- Dependable and adaptable
- Excellent communication and decisionmaking skills
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to provide references
- 18 years of age or older (required)
- Able to attend two weeks of PAID inhouse orientation and training
