Salary:

Lecturer A/2 FullTime Equivalent Salary Range: $5507 $6677 per month
Lecturer B/3 FullTime Equivalent Salary Range: $6221 $13224 per month
Lecturer C/4 FullTime Equivalent Salary Range: $6825 $14523 per month
Lecturer D/5 FullTime Equivalent Salary Range: $8593 $15211 per month

Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. See the Faculty Salaries AtaGlance guide for more information.

Position Summary:

The Social Science Program in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 202526 academic year. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Minimum Qualifications:

The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a Masters degree in a field in the Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in one or more of the following area: quantitative and qualitative research methods; social science theories; data communications; anthropology; geography; National Career Development Association (NCDA) facilitator; National Career Development Association membership or working knowledge of holistic career development/career decisionmaking/planning; capstone writing course project development.

A PhD/EdD is preferred. Experience teaching in person and online is a plus as is interest in teaching writing courses which require iterative assignments with timely instructor feedback to improve student writing skills. Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

Lecturer positions in the department carry responsibilities in the areas of teaching.

The Department:

The Oncampus BA in Social Science and the Online BA in Social Science are designed for students who have a broad interest in the behavioral and social sciences. These are interdisciplinary programs with a curriculum from the disciplines and programs of the College of the Behavioral and Social Sciences and other departments such as History. The program has two options to best meet the needs of our students: multidisciplinary studies and specialization studies. Both options are available online to distance education students who do not reside in Chico. Most of our students are online only students and all of our undergraduate courses offer sections online.

The MA in Social Science is a flexible interdisciplinary program which allows students to tailor a program to their specific academic or career goals drawing on curricula from departments in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences as well as history and other university programs. While possibilities are varied some examples include focusing on higher education administration cultural and gender studies and career development counseling.
