About the role:
Gartner analysts are industry thought leaders who create musthave research market predictions and advice for the key decision makers in a broad range of worldleading organizations. A senior director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps problems and solutions within the market they serve. Senior directors dont just report on the markets of functions they cover; they help shape the development of the technology industry and influencethe most critical decisions technology leaders face. In this role the senior director analyst will contribute to Gartners evolving research into cyberphysical systems (CPS) security.
Gartner defines CPS as Engineered systems that orchestrate sensing computation control networking and analytics to interact with the physical world (including humans). Often interchangeably referred to as OT/IoT/IIoT/IoMT or Smart assets when secure CPS enable safe realtime reliable resilient and adaptable performance.
What you will do:
We are looking for a senior director analyst in Gartners Applied Risk practice to take a leading role covering cyberphysical systems security. A senior director publishes these insights as pragmatic and/or provocative research. Additionally they reinforce Gartners value every day by engaging clients via inperson and virtual meetings sales support visits Gartner conferences and industry events. The senior director analyst will:
Create highquality clear actionable musthave research based on research best practices and methodologies.
Develop new research and ideas through thought leadership and offer compelling actionable approaches to clients needs and requests that accelerate the clients ability to act.
Become an industryrecognized expert on the architecture and implementation of cyberphysical systems security both in traditional ICS/OT environments and in a postPurdue Model world where new CPS such as robots and autonomous systems increasingly deploy.
Become an expert on the cyberphysical systems security industry identifying and evaluating solutions vendors and understanding emerging trends in the market.
Become an expert in Gartners methodologies and branded content styles including the Magic Quadrant.
Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions across a team of analysts.
Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or facetoface interactions.
Support research and sales: Provide sales support serving as the voice of the market to help research teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business.
Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events industry and professional association conferences and client briefings.
Build credibility as a domain or industry expert to represent Gartner research methodology and strategy.
Actively participate in innovation ideation and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the research community.
What you will need:
At least 12 years of relevant field or industry experience. At least five years of handson experience in cyberphysical systems security (including OT security IoT IIoT or other relevant subfields) .
- Experience in one of the following industries preferred:Critical Infrastructure Oil and Gas Heavy ManufacturingAerospace and Defense Automotive Medical devices
Must be familiar with key industry standards related to CPS security risks such as NERCCIP ISA/IEC 62443 NIST SP 80082 and C2M2
Must be familiar with CPS security vendors and deployment best practices
Demonstrate superior analytical skills applying conceptual models recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions
Skilled at distilling complex concepts into concise advice and successful at developing and defending research positions
Strong written and verbal proficiency; analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
Ability to work independently while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others in a multicultural global team
Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce highquality deliverables
Strong business and financial acumen
Willingness and ability to travel up to 10

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 152000 USD 190000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range or be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to education training experience professional achievement business need and location. In addition to base salary employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance or a rolebased uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
