Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Florida is recruiting a fulltime 1.0 FTE) 12month tenure or nontenure track infectious disease epidemiology faculty member at the Assistant Associate or Professor level. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing department that has expertise in cutting edge areas including substance use and HIV genetic epidemiology cancer epidemiology psychiatric epidemiology data science/AI and infectious and chronic disease epidemiology.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching mentoring and research conducted in infectious disease epidemiology joining a dynamic academic health center environment. We are specifically interested in recruiting a faculty member who can extend our existing expertise in HIV epidemiology to other areas of infectious disease epidemiology. Further we are looking for a future faculty member who has advanced epidemiology methodological skills including but not limited to surveillance analytic approaches agentbased models or spatial/cluster analyses. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute both collaboratively and independently to externally funded research. Applicants seeking a tenuretrack appointment will be expected to be principal investigators of extramurally funded research projects. Applicants seeking a nontenure track faculty will be expected to contribute to collaborative research as coinvestigators. In addition the successful candidate will be expected to teach courses that support the epidemiology and public health programs as well as contribute to service through student mentorship and committee service.
The Department of Epidemiology is strategically situated within the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and the College of Medicine. Faculty members are jointly appointed to create synergies and collective strength resulting in a competitive research profile and highly trained students who receive exceptional exposure to diverse expertise. Faculty also benefit from affiliation with the highly successful Emerging Pathogens Institute through expanded collaborative opportunities. Our faculty and students have received numerous national awards in research and mentoring and are committed to excellence in training. The department offers a PhD and Master of Science in Epidemiology as well as an epidemiology concentration in the MPH program. It is also home to two National Institutes of Health training grants. Faculty members receive both research and teaching support provided by our college level research core for grant development and submission as well as the instructional design team for course development and delivery.
The University of Florida is a comprehensive researchextensive university that includes a full range of academic departments and programs. The College of Public Health and Health Professions is part of the Universitys Health Science Center. The UF Health Science Center https://ufhealth/aboutus is comprised of six healthrelated colleges located on a single contiguous campus. They include the colleges of Dentistry Medicine Nursing Pharmacy Public Health and Health Professions and Veterinary Medicine. The Health Science Center also partners with the immediately adjacent UF Health Shands Hospital the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center and the UF Health Science Center Regional campus located in Jacksonville FL. Additional major institutes and centers located at the University of Florida include the Emerging Pathogens Institute the Institute of Child Health Policy the UF Health Cancer Center the UF Genetics Institute the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the McKnight Brain Institute all of which provide stateoftheart environments and access to large data sets for faculty collaboration.

Doctoral degree in Epidemiology or a related field
For senior hires a record of academic accomplishments scholarly recognition external research support and leadership responsibilities to warrant appointment at the level of professor or associate professor is essential. For hires at the assistant professor level potential to develop such a record should be demonstrated.
