The associate dean of students provides administrative support to the dean of students who directs the overall coordination administration and program development of functional areas within the Division of Student Affairs. The person in the position exercises independent judgment handles a highly diversified mixture of responsibilities in one or several specialized areas and supports the Universitys core values by providing individualized attention and access to programs and services to underrepresented students. The person may represent or assume authority for the Dean of Students Office in the deans absence.
The Dean of Students Office at Illinois State University has responsibility for multiple programs and services including student advocacy problem resolution basic needs and crisis response; campus discipline and mediation programs; student legal services; offcampus student services; parent and family services; student involvement opportunities including sorority and fraternity life leadership development registered student organizations and management of the student involvement center; advisement of the student government association and sorority and fraternity governing and honorary organizations; planning implementing and assessing largescale campuswide traditional events including commencement student leader recognition events student organization involvement fairs social programming and fall and spring new student welcome programs.

1. Masters degree in student affairs or related area.
2. Minimum of seven years of experience in student affairs/services at a college/university.
3. Experience supervising fulltime staff members in higher education setting is required.
4. Excellent written oral administrative organizational and judgment skills; demonstrated experience in creating productive work relationships with peers and students.
5. Ability to work in a highdemand environment work cooperatively in a team setting multitask and be able to selfinitiate and work independently.
6. Experience in strategic planning and organizational budget management.
7. Ability to work extended hours and periodic nights and weekends.
8. Ability and means to drive at night.
9. Demonstrates reliability professionalism and a commitment to providing excellent service to students. Values inclusivity and is able to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
10. Full knowledge of principles of diversity and demonstrates cultural competency.
Ph.D./Ed.D.
Work hours vary but are typically 8:00 AM 4:30 PM with some evenings and weekends required during peak events.
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
