General Information
The George L. Argyros College of Business and Economics at Chapman University invites applications for a tenured faculty position in Management Science beginning August 1 2025. This position is open to Associate or Full Professors who have an international reputation of scholarship publishing in FT50 business journals.
Chapman University is a nationallyranked R2 Carnegie Classified private institution offering traditional undergraduate and graduate programs in the heart of Orange County one of Southern Californias most diverse and vibrant regions. Chapmans campuses are home to nearly 10000 students representing 50 states three territories and 87 countries. The 11 schools and colleges of Chapman including the Argyros College of Business and Economics offer 65 bachelors 53 masters and six doctoral programs along with nearly 60 minors and 17 accelerated and bridge programs. Classes are taught by the more than 1100 dedicated faculty members who are leaders in their fields including Nobel Prize recipients MacArthur Fellows National Medal of Science honorees former U.S. Supreme Court clerks and Emmy Grammy and Academy Award winners.
The Argyros College of Business and Economics (ACBE) is fully accredited by AACSB and offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs including an MS in Business Analytics degree that will launch in Fall 2025. Chapmans fulltime MBA program is ranked #66 nationally by US News and World Report. The school currently has 1800 undergraduates and 150 graduate students who attend classes in a modern 100000 square foot stateoftheart facility. Chapman is also home to the worldrenowned Economic Sciences Institute headed by Nobel Laureate Vernon Smith. With the upcoming launch of a new MS in Business Analytics (MSBA) program in Fall 2025 the Argyros College has an increasing need for faculty to teach data analytics courses. This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape and expand the MSBA program from the ground up including developing relationships with prospective employers. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in machine learning data science social network analytics business analytics and large language models and encourage individuals with these skills to apply. The position provides a competitive salary a balanced 22 teaching load and ample support for scholarly endeavors including incentivebased summer research funding and a discretionary research budget. Additionally the position contemplates leadership opportunities such as serving as the academic director for the MSBA program or establishing a related research center with potential for additional support in recognition of these strategic contributions.
Responsibilities
- Engage in scholarly research leading to publications in highquality journals.
- Teach a range of courses that reflect the specialty interests of the candidate and the needs of the department.
- Actively contribute as an integral member of the Argyros College faculty by engaging in department and university service as expected of an Associate or Full Professor.
- Plan develop and deliver highquality courses.
- Offer regular office hours to provide students with opportunities for oneonone consultations academic advising and clarification of course materials.
- Contribute to the overall mission of the institution by attending program meetings and supporting campuswide initiatives and events.
- Serve on academic committees or task forces within the institution contributing to discussions and decisions related to academic policies curriculum development and other relevant matters.
- Associate or Full Professors are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda and are evaluated on their research/scholarly/creative activity teaching and service.
- A Ph.D. in Economics Information Systems or other data sciencerelated discipline from an AACSBaccredited business school or equivalent for international applicants is required.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
- Excellence in scholarship as evidenced by an internationally recognized publication record in top business or economics journals.
