Job Description
The primary role of the Mechanical Engineer is to provide technical ownership and refinement of the packaging platforms and automation systems. Working with the Electrical and Controls teams the Mechanical Engineer will execute the design and manufacturing of Amazons inhouse packaging machinery and automation.
Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with crossfunctional engineers to design and execute packaging machinery and automation projects
Collaborate in the mechanical design workstreams including modeling load/bearing calculations and 3D/2D design
Ensure project documentation is complete and scalable for manufacturing
Support safety certification of projects/platforms
Participate in meetings to optimize for customer experience supply chain and sustainability
About the team
The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team develops automated solutions and sustainable packaging across Amazons operations focusing on customer experience and waste reduction.
4 years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
Experience with prototyping and implementation
BA in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
5 years packaging machinery design experience
Proficiency in 3D design and simulation software including but not limited to Ansys Creo Catia Solidworks
Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
PLM GD&T and manufacturing process knowledge
Understanding of packaging machinery safety standards
Operations experience in a manufacturing environment
Advanced simulation expertise
