The Fellowship Program: Appointees will participate in LACERAs twoyear Finance Analyst I Fellowship Program. The program provides comprehensive and immersive training for aspiring investment professionals and consists of rigorous training modules handson projects and direct mentoring from experienced professionals in the industry. This program is designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in institutional investing preparing them for entrylevel investment positions. The Fellowship Program anticipated to start July 2025 is intended to last no more than two years and does not guarantee employment with LACERA beyond this period.

The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA)administers and manages the $80 billion retirement fund for the County of Los Angeles. We provide retirement disability and death benefits to eligible County Employees and their Beneficiaries and collect deposit invest and manage retirement funds collected from the County Outside Districts and County Employees. The Finance Analyst I Fellow participates in a structured onthejob training program designed to provide the participant with the necessary skills and knowledge in the field of Investments for preparation into an entrylevel Investment position.
Positions allocable to this class typically report to an assigned supervisor and/or mentor and receive onthejob training inclusive of both theoretical understanding and practical application. The Finance Analyst I Fellow participates in a 12to24month training program. Incumbents are expected to develop and demonstrate progressively increasing skills and independence of action as they gain experience and proficiency in the field of Investments.
This is a county temporary position of limited duration. Incumbents participate in a twoyear program. The vacancy is in the Investments Division.
Work Schedule:
This fulltime temporary position is required to work a 5/40 schedule (e.g. an eight 8 hour day Monday through Friday) for at least the first twelve 12 months of employment. The Investment Office currently works a hybrid work model with all staff members in the office two 2 days per week (generally Monday and Wednesday) and the third Thursday of every month and as organizational needs warrant. LACERA may revise the hybrid work model at its discretion as circumstances warrant.

A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Finance Economics Business Management or a related field.
Two 2 years analytical experience in a financial environment such as banking private investment fund management public pension fund management or real estate management at the corporate level.
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of: General knowledge of financial economic and/or investment markets; principals and applications of Microsoft Office Word Excel and PowerPoint; and correct English usage grammar spelling punctuation and vocabulary.
Ability to:Communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing; work in a teamoriented environment; understand and follow oral and written directions; apply analytical and problemsolving skills; implement high attention to detail; establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external staff.
An evaluation of Training and Experience based on application information and supplemental questionnaire weighted at 100.

Veterans Credit: In all open competitive examinations a veterans credit of 10 percent of the total credits specified for such examinations will be added to the final passing grade of an honorably discharged veteran who served in the Armed Forces of the United States under any of the following conditions: During a declared war; or During the period April 28 1952 through July 1 1955; or For more than 180 consecutive days other than for training any part of which occurred after January 31 1955 and before October 15 1976; or During the Gulf War from August 2 1990 through January 2 1992; or For more than 180 consecutive days other than for training any part of which occurred during the period beginning September 11 2001 and ending on August 31 2010 the last day of Operation Iraqi Freedom; or In a campaign or expedition for which a campaign medal or expeditionary medal has been authorized and awarded. Benefit Information: Depending on the position the successful candidate will enroll in a contributory defined benefit pension plan if the candidate is a new member of the Countys defined benefit plan (LACERA) on or after January 1 2013 (first employed by the County on or after December 1 2012 unless she or he established reciprocity with another public retirement system in which she or he was a member before January 1 2013. It should be noted that County employees do not pay into Social Security but do pay the Medical Hospital Insurance Tax portion of Social Security at a rate of 1.45.
