The 101st Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) of the Maine Air National Guard
requires the specialized skills of a State Engineering Technician to effectively
manage a range of complex engineering duties. All assigned duties are critical to
maintaining mission readiness and operational efficiency. The technician will
address technical problems develop solutions and ensure the Squadron meets
safety and regulatory standards.
Primary responsibilities include:
Coordinates with project teams contractors and base personnel to track project
progress and resolve issues during construction.
Assists in planning programming and design phases for engineering projects
ensuring that all specifications and requirements align with Air National Guard
operational needs.
Reviews engineering designs plans and specifications to ensure compliance
with regulatory requirements military standards and base needs.
Provides feedback and recommendations for design improvements or changes
to enhance project efficiency safety and functionality.
Drafts and updates technical drawings schematics and plans using AutoCAD
and other drafting software.
Maintains accurate and organized records of project designs revisions and
associated documents.
Inspects and coordinates construction activities ensuring adherence to design
specifications safety protocols and project timelines.
Monitors construction quality and ensures compliance with contract terms and
military construction standards.
Prepares and evaluates project bid documents including analyzing contractor
proposals.
Analyzes engineering issues or design challenges to provide innovative
solutions to meet project objectives and deadlines.
Develops project budgets and tracks expenditures providing cost estimates and
identifying costeffective solutions.
Attends project meetings and briefings providing updates and offering
technical insights to facilitate decisionmaking.
Skills or knowledge required:
Knowledge of engineering equipment instruments and materials.
Knowledge of engineering principles practices and techniques.
Knowledge of mathematics.
Ability to read interpret and explain specifications charts graphs and tables.
Ability to prepare comprehensive and complex reports.
Ability to draft technical drawings using CAD software.
Ability to communicate effectively with military leadership and project teams.
Minimum qualifications:
Eleven 11 years of experience in engineering three 3 of which must have been at the Engineering Technician III level OR as Associates Degree in Civil Engineering and seven 7 years of engineering experience three 3 of which must have been at the Engineering Technician III level OR a Bachelors Degree in an allied scientific or math field and three 3 years experience at the Engineering Technician III level. Experience outside of State service which is equivalent to the career levels specified also qualifies.
