Bachelors degree required. 710 years of related experience required with a minimum of 5 years in development.
Also the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working effectively in a large complex dynamic and sophisticated organization preferably in donor relations stewardship or frontline fundraising with successes coming as a result of good collaborations with staff across the organization. The Director of Development Donor Relations for principal gift donors is responsible for managing a top donor program that focuses on strategically stewarding retaining and further cultivating MGHs most generous and influential donors and prospects through individualized plans custom reports communications and engagements and a new $5 million giving recognition society.
He/she will be expected to:
develop strategic partnerships with frontline principal/major gift fundraisers;
create new initiatives and enhance existing deliverables to promote donor retention and inspire further giving from this constituency;
design and implement annual or longerterm stewardship/cultivation plans for individual donors and donor cohorts;
utilize appropriate metrics to measure effectiveness of the principal/major gift stewardship and cultivation efforts.
The Director reports to the Senior Director of Development Donor Relations and operates as an integral member of the overall Donor Relations team. He/she works collaboratively with all members of the Development Office as well as colleagues across hospital units to deliver communications and implement engagements that are meaningful to donor(s) and that help reinforce the impact of giving to MGH at the 7figure and above gift level. The Director helps to provide guidance and direction to senior leadership and volunteers in an effort to advance the culture of philanthropy across MGH and to execute stewardship strategies successfully.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct individual strategy meetings on a regular (suggested quarterly) basis with selected frontline fundraisers to review their top 25 donors/prospects for stewardship/cultivation.
Develop minimum best practice stewardship standards/benchmarks for major and principal gift donor plans and recognition.
Prepare and/or review acknowledgements pledge updates fund/impact/progress reports and other stewardship communications to principal and major gift donors.
Lead ongoing design and launch of a formal giving/recognition society for donors with lifetime giving of $5M or more to MGH.
Explore use of technology for ongoing and personalized stewardship/cultivation communication.
Assist Senior Directors of Donor Relations and Information Management/Interactive Solutions on effective utilization of database system.
Assist Senior Directors of Donor Relations and Special Events with developing event programs speakers and formats to enhance stewardship/cultivation outcomes.
Develop and maintain relationships with department and hospital marketing public affairs and communications staff to further advance the MGHs message and agenda.
Undertake additional tasks as assigned.
Engage appropriately and respectfully with hospital staff and colleagues.
Participate in budget preparations for the team and work within the approved budget.
Contribute to maintaining positive office morale even in the face of high work volume and challenging periods.
Take on other officewide duties at the request of the Senior Managing Director or Vice President.
