Description of Job

These positions are responsible for daily oversight supervision and management of the production and service units for Colorado Correctional Industries (CCi) at facilities in the North Sector Areas. These positions provide inmate employment and training evaluates equipment and resource needs and supervises staff in these programs with the goal to employ and train as many inmates within the work units as practicable and meaningful while maintaining security in the workplace.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Serves as the Site Supervisor over the Print Imaging State Surplus Coffee Roasting and General Services units or as the Site Supervisor over K9 and Garments unit; advises and interprets directives and policies;
  • Provides oversight and supervision of staff and inmates which include scheduling to maximize production meeting customer industry and facility needs; performance plans evaluations reviews and expectations; recommendation of corrective/disciplinary actions and resolve/document formal and informal grievances;
  • Establishes and communicates production quality and security standards to staff and inmates;
  • Suggests viable opportunities to increase business for CCi;
  • Develops and defends operating budgets to include revenue projections and estimation of expenses;
  • Analyzes accountingproduction costs/revenues andstaffing;
  • Researches market pricing and services to determine pricing for CCi products and services;
  • Ensures that all procurement processes are compliant with the State and Department purchasing rules and audits purchases to maintain proper inventory levels and controls;
  • Develops new production processes and products to accommodate changing designs;
  • Coordinates the production and distribution of products and services to ensure customer satisfaction and market relevance;
  • Develops tracks and records pertinent performance measures for all production areas;
  • Increases employment opportunities of inmates ensuring profitability of CCi;
  • Position will include travel to all of North Sector Area that is listed on the job announcement;
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Substitutions:
Education from an accredited college or university in Business Administration Business Management Marketing Public Administration Accounting or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience on a yearforyear basis. There is no substitution for the one 1 year supervision experience over fully trained employees. If you are using education as a substitution you must attach transcripts showing the degree and date awarded.

A bachelors degree that is not in a related field of study may substitute up to 60 semester hours of core coursework on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:(Candidates may receive higher ratings for possessing preferred qualifications criteria).
  • Experience as a 2nd level supervisor.2nd level supervision is defined as supervising operations and subordinate supervisors to include performance management and making decisions that impact the pay status and tenure of subordinate staff;
  • Profit/loss experience for an organization or business;
  • Experience working in a correctional environment.
