Were looking for aSenior Estimatorto join ourDelivery Phase Services (DPS)team.
This role is to provide cost estimating expertise across the organisation supporting clients in the renewables rehabilitation resources energy and major infrastructure sectors.
Reporting to the Estimating Function Lead the key focus of your role will be to provide CAPEX estimating expertise to GHDs project / study teams and clients.
This role can be based in any city in Australia with a GHD office.
Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Develop CAPEX cost estimates to support all project phases including concept prefeasibility feasibility and project phases
- Buildup of construction manhours production rate and indirect cost from first principles
- Review engineering drawings scope of work material take offs to ensure that they meet cost estimate accuracy requirements and scope completeness
- Work with study teams to ensure that engineering inputs adheres to the standard of cost estimate accuracy requirements
- Structure cost estimate details with appropriate WBS commodity codes and contract codes
- Align cost estimates with scope project schedule and strategy
- Align cost estimate format / template with client requirements
- Participate and provide input to constructability / risk studies and workshops
- Maintain up to date market pricing of materials equipment labour and other specialist contractor services
- Keeps up to date with current construction practices and incorporate learnings to cost estimates
- Prepare nonmanual distributable or contractor indirect cost estimates developing basis for temporary facilities miscellaneous construction services construction tools and equipment nonmanual staffing startup services payroll taxes and insurance camp facilities and operation and other field cost
- Perform and review cost escalation
- Identify ways to mitigate risk. Assesses the uncertainties associated with productivity material pricing wage rates and quantity variation
- Benchmarking utilising historical data statistical analysis and general market comparison
- Prepare relevant study report documentation including Basis of Estimate and Estimating Plan
- Present estimate findings to clients and project team
- Assist projects in identifying scope deviations
- Ensuring compliance with GHDs governance requirements and cost estimating standards
- Supports the Function Lead in the continuous improvement of cost estimating practices
- Guide Graduates and Junior Estimators.
What you will bring to the team:
- Trade Qualified or Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Construction Management
- Minimum 15 years of experience as a Cost Estimator in the resources industry and major infrastructure projects
- Experience in the delivery of projects of >A$100 million
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of estimating core processes and procedures
- Extensive knowledge and experience in EPC and EPCM estimating practices and methods including demonstrated ability to organise direct perform review and present cost estimating products with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a highpressure environment
- Proven experience in leading mentoring and developing a team of estimators
- Ability to delegate tasks effectively and ensure the team delivers highquality estimates within deadlines
- Ability to manage and meet deadlines
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and estimating software packages
- Strong attention to detail and numerical skills.
