Job Description

MGIS is looking for a talented and experienced Human Resources Manager. This is your chance to support an amazing team of people and make a difference in the lives of those who help Ottawas animals. The HR manager acts as a resource for employees and senior management alike providing strategic and daytoday leadership. They are responsible for leading the HR team in the delivery of human resources services including recruitment employee relations recognition wellness health and safety training and development compensation and performance management. We offer a competitive salary between $67000 to $72000 per year commensurate with experience. As well we offer generous sick leave vacation life insurance long term disability employer paid extended health and dental benefits and a registered pension plan. It is a fulltime permanent position working 75 hours per biweekly pay period.

Responsibilities

  • Develop implement manage monitor and evaluate all human resources functions including performance management professional development recruitment and selection onboarding training and offboarding employee relations occupational health and safety recognition retention and engagement
  • Determine short and longterm goals and strategies to achieve department and organizational strategic goals
  • Develop implement maintain distribute and evaluate HR standard operating procedures documents and forms
  • Work with management to identify and evaluate department Human Resources needs
  • Support managers in the recruitment management and termination of staff
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the HRIS database and human resources files
  • Participate in collective bargaining activities and ensure organizational compliance with the collective agreement
  • Oversee and administer application of the employee complaints harassment and accommodation policies
  • Develop and implement internal and external HR communication strategies and promotional plans in collaboration with the communications department
  • Solicit employee feedback and analyze and act on results


Requirements

Requirements

  • Postsecondary school diploma or certificate in a related field human resources management preferred
  • CHRP designation required CHRL designation preferred
  • Minimum of four years experience in human resources management
  • Experience delivering HR services in a unionized environment preferred
  • Minimum of one year staff management experience
  • Experience with HRIS ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
