TEACHER: GRADE KINDERGARTEN
Chief Tallcree Elementary South Tallcree ABSchool Year
Tallcree Education Division is seeking highly motivated individuals. If you are an Alberta Certified Teacher and would like to live in a small remote northern community work with and serve Indigenous children and youth then Tallcree Education is the place for you.
Chief Tallcree Elementary School has small class sizes which provide excellent opportunities for differentiated teaching and learning. We welcome teachers who are studentcentered and will have demonstrated:
education and experience specific to elementary teaching in a multigrade classroom
successful experience with Indigenous Curriculum
enhanced understanding of First Nations worldviews cultural beliefs language and values
excellence in all competencies of the Alberta Education Teaching Quality Standard .
excellent knowledge of the Programs of Study and learning outcomes of the Alberta Curriculum relevant to the position
proficiency in principles and practice of differentiated teaching and learning and inclusive education
excellent planning teaching and assessment skills
respect for Indigenous learning and learners as well as knowledge of the Tallcree Nation (preferred)
effective teaching and learning environments and created innovative program opportunities to engage and challenge students and promote a sense of pride and accomplishment.
instructional leadership that ensures the highest quality learning and teaching experiences.
experience engaging students outside the classroom through landbased teaching and learning
commitment to being a team player committed to the belief that all students can learn and want to learn
the ability to establish meaningful and effective rapport with students
the ability to connect with students in trusting and supportive ways clarify problems and challenges and restore harmony and respect
the desire and ability to support students learning and personal goals and help to ensure their success.
experience with TraumaInformed Practice
ability to establish excellent relationships with parents Elders School Board staff and community members
a commitment to ongoing professional growth
a willingness to support extracurricular activities
- the ability and desire to lead by example and be active in the life of the community.
The Teacher will be accountable for overseeing the daytoday instruction of students and developing and maintaining effective educational classroom experiences to ensure the engagement enjoyment safety and success of students. The teacher will show leadership guidance and collaboration in their relationship with the Educational Assistant and oversee the schedule and activities of the EA .
Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Successful teaching experience.
- Sound knowledge/awareness of the outcomes of the provincial curriculum.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nations Language Culture Organizations and Communities is an asset.
Conditions of Employment
RCMP/Police Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check (formerly Child Welfare Check CWIS) submitted prior to commencement of employment.

Chief Tallcree Elementary School is a brand new state of the art school located in South Tallcree AB approximately a 47 min drive 76.0km)via Bicentennial Hwy/AB88 S. of Fort Vermilion Alberta. It will have its Grand Opening in September 2021.
