The Western LLS region is the largest in NSW covering approximately 314500km2 or 40 per cent of the state. It is larger than Victoria and Tasmania combined with rainfall in the region being low and drought being a major part of the climatic cycle. The mainland uses within the Western region are grazing dryland agriculture irrigated agriculture mining tourism and nature conservation.
