Job Description

The Safety Health & Environmental Manager (commonly referred to as an Environmental Health & Safety Manager externally) will lead the facility in safety and environmental initiatives at Ecolabs Asheville manufacturing plant. The SHE manager will take safety programs from the implementation stage to integration providing superior training and partnering with the leadership team and frontline associates to influence change while achieving a commitment to a culture of safety among employees.

Partnering with plant leadership the SHE manager will be responsible for overall building comfort and functionality in safety environment and security. The SHE manager will drive sustainability initiatives to decrease utilization of energy and improve recycling. As the key representative to outside agencies the SHE Manager will also drive compliance with regulatory and environmental permits.

  • This position is located in Swannanoa North Carolina
  • Must be within commutable distance to Swannanoa North Carolina

What You Will Do:

  • Provide guidance & technical expertise to ensure compliance with SH&E regulations including governmental state industry and Ecolab requirements.
  • Develop & implement systems & processes for SH&Esystem to ensure training is timely & effective incident investigations are timely & complete audits are regularly scheduled & observations resolved including Gemba Walks.
  • Partners with the team to create a culture of trust engagement transparency risk awareness and avoidance and rigorous application of our SH&E Management System (SMS).
  • Champion the behavioral based observation program Management of Change SHE Pillar of TPM and near miss/risk identification resolution.
  • Represent the plant in SH&E audit reviews conducted by third parties; communicate trends in audit findings corrective actions & observed best practices.
  • Uphold compliance with all federal state and local environmental regulations and develop SOPs for facility compliance including but not limited to RCRA EPA SWPPP Clean Water Act OSHA & safety contingency plans.
  • Manage all data mandated by environmental permits or regulations and prepare and submit all related reports.
  • Disseminates information regarding new regulations.
  • Develop track & communicate SH&E indicators

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in an EHS role within a manufacturing facility
  • Experience managing internal and/orexternal audits

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a safety environmental engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Chemical oil & gas etc. experience highly favored
  • Experience developing & delivering training programs
  • Extensive knowledge of federal state and local environmental regulations.
  • Waste management experience
  • TPM or SHE Pillar experience

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range

The base salary range for this position is $104700.00 $157100.00. This position is eligible for annual bonus pay based on performance per plan terms. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as experience education training geography etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
