Lead Teacher Job Description
Hannibal Public Schools is seeking candidates for a lead teacher position for our employee child care classrooms. This is a 180 day position and follows the Hannibal Public Schools calendar. This position is responsible for overseeing the care of students in 3 classrooms and working with paraeducators to support the needs of all students.
Maintain ongoing open communication with parents and caregivers
Oversee and manage paraeducators creating a climate of inclusivity kindness and family setting.
Ensure and work to promote opportunities for each family to build strong relationships with staff
Provide a classroom environment that encourages parent participation
Plan periodical parent conferences to discuss childrens developmental progress needs and interests following Hannibal Public Schools calendar and/or parent requests
Collaborate with childrens families to ensure a smooth transition from home to school setting
Create weekly plans and implement an ageappropriate curriculum that nurtures and stimulates all domains of each childs development in their care
Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the childrens learning and growth
Perform ongoing developmental evaluations of children as required
Qualifications for Lead Teacher
2 years teaching experience
Experience working in a leadership role in an early childhood setting desired
Valid CPR certification
Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40pound child
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Pass a criminal background check
Able to maintain an overall positive and professional disposition
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google programs
Effectively plan organize and implement educational activities
Demonstrable record of making decisions on behalf of children with their wellbeing the top priority
Full-Time
