POSITION SUMMARY: Are you passionate about helping students achieve their academic dreams Moravian University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Aid Advisor to join our dynamic team. The Financial Aid Advisor will play a pivotal role in assisting students and families in navigating the financial aid process to make higher education accessible and affordable. This individual will provide comprehensive guidance on various financial aid programs scholarships grants and loans ensuring that students and families understand their options and make informed decisions. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills a deep understanding of financial aid regulations and policies and a passion for supporting students in achieving their academic goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise students and families on the financial aid process including application procedures eligibility requirements and available funding options.
  • Conduct individualized financial aid counseling sessions to assess students financial needs and develop personalized financial aid plans.
  • Assist students in completing and understanding financial aid applications such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and ensure accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Manage a caseload of financial aid applications including reviewing and verifying application materials determining eligibility for financial aid programs and awarding financial aid packages based on established guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide accurate and timely information regarding scholarship opportunities grants workstudy programs and alternative financing options.
  • Collaborate with other university departments including admissions registrar and student accounts to coordinate financial aid processes and resolve student inquiries and issues.
  • Develop and participate in financial aid workshops orientations and outreach events to educate students parents and the community about financial aid resources and opportunities including conducting group presentations and workshops on various financial aid topics.
  • Stay current on changes in federal and state financial aid regulations policies and procedures and communicate updates to students and staff as needed.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and adhere to professional ethics and standards in all interactions and communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and objectives of Moravian Universitys financial aid office including various student recruitment and retention initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required bachelors degree preferred.
  • 12 years of experience in financial aid administration or a higher education setting is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs regulations and compliance requirements including Title IV regulations is a bonus.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication problem solving and customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with students parents and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Detailoriented with strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment with a commitment to student success.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in higher education.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events and deadlines.
