Full Time 72 Hours Per Pay Period Day shift

Department Description:
In our Complex Medical Unit we have 34 private patient rooms. We are located on the seventh floor in the North tower of the main hospital.
The Complex Medical Unit is comprised of a wide variety of medically complex patients. Many of our patients are acutely ill and require a higher level of care than your average medical floor but do not meet the need to be in a stepdown/ICU unit. Patients can include:
- Respiratory (BiPAP HighFlow oxygen chest tubes)
- Sepsis
- Endocrine
- Cardiac (nontitrated cardiac drip heparin drip)
- GI (dobhoff tubes NG tubes)
- GU (catheters bladder irrigation)
- Nephrology and dialysis patients
- Postoperative and Wounds (wound vac various wound dressing and management)
- Oncology (pleurx catheters ports)

We follow a 12 hour shift weekends/holidays on a sixweek schedule. Team members utilize a selfscheduling software. Position Summary:
The Clinical Resource Nurse is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in a specific area of clinical nursing. A selected patient population is the focus of practice. The CRN position is based on the needs of the patient and the health care system and the expertise of the CRN. The CRN in collaboration with the Nurse Manager is a resource agent in pursuit of improved nursing practice and improved patient outcomes focusing on the novice and intermediate level RNs. The scope of practice encompasses the use of the nursing process in major areas: practice and education.
Responsibilities
- Provides a clinical practice resource to enhance quality in collaboration with patient family and health care team to produce optimal patient outcomes.
- Participates in the development implementation and evaluation of standards of care and standards of practice.
- Identifies needs plans and works with Manager and Educator on implementing educational programs within specialty area for staff patients and/or community.
- Supports staff nurse advancement in collaboration with the unit manager in the clinical ladder process through consultation education and encouragement.
- Participates in the quality improvement activities.
- Collaborates with nursing and other health care professionals in the establishment of goals and implementation of the plan of care for all clinical cases.
- Serves in a consultative role to staff (assessment identification of problem plan and followup).
- Takes patient assignments as necessary to meet patient needs.
- Plans and implements a program for continuing self development.
- Follows policies procedures and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Perform other related services as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of five 5 years of overall professionallevel Nursing experience; minimum of three 3 years in Labor and Delivery setting.
Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure. CPR required.
