Job Description
- Preparation of the Operating Room: Ensure the OR is sterile fully equipped and organized with the necessary instruments and supplies to promote patient safety and reduce the risk of infections.
- Surgical Instrumentation: Anticipate surgeons needs by selecting and passing instruments efficiently maintaining a sterile field and minimizing the likelihood of complications.
- Patient Preparation: Assist in positioning and preparing patients on the operating table to ensure safety and comfort helping to prevent adverse events.
- Surgical Assistance: Support surgeons during procedures by facilitating seamless workflows and contributing to improved outcomes such as reduced complications and revisit rates.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment as needed to ensure safe and effective procedures.
- Sterile Technique: Maintain strict adherence to sterile protocols and best practices to lower infection rates and uphold patient safety.
- PostProcedure Duties: Clean and sterilize instruments restock supplies and prepare the OR for the next procedure to sustain high standards of readiness and minimize infection risks.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent training
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
- Prior experience as a Scrub Tech or Surgical Tech in an operating room setting.
- Proficiency in suture techniques under physician supervision is preferred with a willingness to learn.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments equipment and procedures.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage priorities during surgeries.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Unwavering commitment to maintaining sterile technique.
Physical stamina and dexterity for prolonged standing and patient positioning.
