Department Summary:
Substation Design Engineering plans and implements the design procurement installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus such as electric motors equipment controls lighting wiring and power systems/devices structures foundations and conductor systems for the generation transmission transformation and distribution of electric power. Develops designs for new substations and retrofit of existing facilities. Provides technical support to construction crews on department designs.

Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Standards Maintains currency in stateoftheart engineering practices and provides guidance and direction on engineering processes and standards to colleagues when requested. Supports civil engineering initiatives through extended knowledge of civil engineering principles and all applicable codes and regulatory requirements and standards. Applies knowledge to plan develop coordinate and direct major and minor project assignments with complex features associated with design construction maintenance or testing; provides technical guidance and support to other engineers and customers as requested.
- Engineering Production Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects; coordinates multiple discipline activity. Provides civil engineering and construction support for generation and substation facilities; leads development of complex designs and provides technical support and guidance to less experienced colleagues; determines design requirements to assist construction activities and determines project requirements and scope.
- Project Coordination Actively coordinates with other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects including representing the team to interdepartmental and external (regulatory) stakeholders. Plans develops and coordinates projects with complex design construction maintenance and testing elements in support of engineering and construction needs of generation and substation facilities; provides accurate capital budget and job estimates.
- Knowledge Sharing Serves as a technical specialist and provides consultation/guidance to project teams in a specific practice area; actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring; implements resource management strategy. Provides and coordinates training on new codes and regulatory requirements and standards; trains technicians draftsmen designers and less experienced colleagues on new codes and standards; provides technical training to department and company through internal training program.

- Education Requires a bachelors degree in civil engineering from ABETaccredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency.
- Experience Typically five or more years in civil engineering or four or more years in a related field with PE license.
- Certifications Licenses and Training Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred; may be required based upon role.

Compensation Range:

Actual total compensation including a performance based incentive bonus is commensurate with experience skills qualifications education training and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range the decision will be made on a casebycase basis.
