Summary:
Assumes responsibility for field assembly calibration repair and preventive maintenance of Medical Imaging and Diagnostic Xray equipment with minimal supervision and technical support to ensure efficient operation of diagnostic equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintains indepth working knowledge of electronic circuitry and schematics as well as test equipment applications to perform compliance testing according to all regulatory standards on Nuvance Health clients radiology equipment.
- Performs electrical mechanical and radiation safety inspections according to the manufacturers specifications on radiological imaging systems and related ancillary equipment. Calibrates and evaluates according to manufacturers specifications a multiplicity of imaging systems and subsystems to ensure proper performance standards. Identifies faulty radiological imaging equipment implementing appropriate corrective action to the subsystem and/or component level as required.
- Develops and performs radiological imaging systems preventive maintenance procedures and frequencies according to manufacturers specifications to ensure proper equipment performance. Compiles all pertinent information and enters data on the computer for further evaluation of future needs.
- Troubleshoots and repairs imaging equipment by maintaining an analytical knowledge of the utilization of equipment from the end users view and performing board/component level repairs as required. Orders on a priority basis imaging system supplies repair parts and services as necessary. Expedites repairs a thorough review of service manuals service notes and familiarity with all servicing methods minimizing customer downtime.
- Oversees installation/deinstallation from start to finish to ensure proper and efficient implementation with minimal disruption to hospital services.
- Oversees acceptance testing on new radiological imaging systems prior to use. Instruct radiographers and technologists at Nuvance Health and Biomedical Department clients in the proper use and implementation of imaging equipment.
- Communicates and interacts appropriately with physicians and other professionals and technical support staff as required to always maintain a positive working relationship. Promotes and contributes positively to relationships with service customers.
- Provides the status of equipment and other pertinent information to appropriate supervisors as required. Contributes to service communication improvements direction and changes to enhance the growth of Nuvance. Ensures availability for servicing equipment as required to provide proper service coverage to meet the hospitals needs.
- Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures. Always adheres to Infection Control and Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures. Adheres to all safety regulations reporting any variances to the Biomed Coordinator immediately. Reports immediately all incidents irregularities unsafe conditions equipment and/or unusual occurrences to the Biomedical Coordinator.
- Accepts assignments from Director/Manager and or Coordinator willingly and works effectively as a member of the department team.
- Performs other relevant duties as may be necessary as directed by Biomedical Coordinators to work effectively as a member of the department team and to cover other relevant duties as necessary during absence vacation or vacancy of other employees. Promotes and contributes positively to relationships with service customers

Education Skills Experience
Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Electronics Technical Trade School or Military experience or relevant experience with a focus on Radiology/Imaging Equipment.
Preferred: Bachelors Degree.
Minimum experience 0 5 years on Radiology Imaging Equipment
Other Information:
- Works Mainly on Radiology equipment.
- Has working knowledge of various modalities of radiology/imaging equipment
- As years of experience are gained and progress is made in specific Make and Model Training of Radiology Equipment. May work on other more complicated Radiology Equipment.
- OnCall: Radiology Engineer are eligible with six 6 months within the respective Bargaining Unit (For UnionEmployees) Nuvance Health (For NonUnion Employees) Unless there are exceptional or unexpected needs due to a shortage of staff which will then require to be considered to be OnCall rotation on a temporary basis.
