Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Underwriter to join our Energy Casualty team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding Starr Insurances reach throughout the Southeast with a specific emphasis on Southeast producers. This role requires a deep understanding of casualty lines of coverage and a strong background in energy underwriting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a profitable Energy Casualty portfolio focusing on strategic growth and market penetration.
  • Cultivate relationships with key Southwest producers to drive new business opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships.
  • Conduct thorough underwriting analysis to assess risks and determine appropriate coverage terms.
  • Prepare and issue indications quotations and binders with precision and attention to detail.
  • Monitor and manage the new business pipeline ensuring timely followups and conversions.
  • Actively solicit submissions from brokers and clients demonstrating a proactive approach to business development.
  • Provide exceptional service and support to clients addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends regulatory changes and market conditions to inform underwriting decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of underwriting guidelines and strategies to enhance the competitiveness of our Energy Casualty offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred; advanced degrees or professional designations (e.g. CPCU ARM) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience underwriting casualty lines of coverage including Workers Compensation General Liability Commercial Auto and Excess Liability.
  • Strong analytical and decisionmaking skills with the ability to assess complex risks and develop tailored solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Highly organized and detailoriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and tools as well as Microsoft Office Suite.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $120000$160000.

This position involves insurance underwriting. Bad actors involved in insurance underwriting have the opportunity to cause significant financial harm by binding the employer to improperly cover risks. Therefore certain criminal convictions may have a direct adverse and negative relationship with this responsibility potentially resulting in the withdrawal of a conditional offer of employment.
