Job Description

The person in this position will serve as the head trackcoach under the direction and supervision of the activities and athletic director. The person in this position will be responsible for teaching trackfundamentals and skillsto 5th through 8th graders. The head coach is also responsible for the planning organizing and directing the trackprogram as well as for the conduct of athletes in the locker room at practices on the bus and at games. The use of independent judgment and decisionmaking is required in many matters not having established rules regulations policies or precedent. All coaches and advisers are required to take the online staff training on Child Abuse Identification and Prevention in Oregon Schools; Sexual Misconduct Staff to Student; and Bullying Prevention in Oregon Schools. All coaching contracts are issued on a yeartoyear basis.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  1. Possess or be able to obtain a current first aid card;
  2. Knowledge and ability to help build and maintain a quality trackprogram;
  3. Ability to communicate work effectively with and maintain effective working rapport with students staff parents and patrons;
  4. Minimum of oneyear competitive track (high school or higher) and/or coaching;
  5. Desire and ability to work with middle school age athletes;
  6. Ability to maintain student confidentiality;
  7. Responsibility to know understand and adhere to district policy and school expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

  1. Ability to plan and lead practices;
  2. Responsible for the conduct of athletes (locker room practice bus and games);
  3. Responsible for equipment issue and care of equipment;
  4. Ability to provide athletes with proper conditioning and ability to prevent and treat injuries.
