Job Description

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Human and Community Services Division.

The VISTA Program Specialist has the primary responsibility for programmatic implementation and management of the Department of Public Health and Human Services AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) Program. This position supports VISTA Host Sites members and programming to ensure alignment with the DPHHS focus areas. This position collaborates with and provides guidance for community organizations to implement evidencebased intervention strategies.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

  • Knowledge of nonprofit / public administration principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of grant administration practices.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral including excellent public speaking skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan organize and gather information and conduct research.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with partnerships.
  • Meet minimum qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in public administration Business Administration Marketing Planning or related field.
    • Two years job experience with recruitment training or grants.
    • Developing remote workstations preferred
    • Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a casebycase basis.
