POSITION SUMMARY:

The Adjunct Faculty Fieldwork Supervisor at Pacific Oaks College School of Human Development & Education mentors and supports student teachers and intern candidates during their fieldwork experiences. Serving as the primary liaison between the college and school site mentor teachers the Supervisor plays a crucial role in bridging academic learning with practical application. This role focuses on guiding candidates through the practical aspects of teaching while fostering critical reflection on the principles that underpin effective educational practice.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The incumbent normally receives little instruction on daytoday work and receives general instructions on new assignments.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Supervisory responsibilities include guiding and mentoring students evaluating their academic performance coordinating course activities and facilitating discussions. This may also involve supporting students in their professional development and providing feedback on their research projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Candidate Support:

  • Provide observation guidance feedback and mentoring to candidates during student teaching or intern placements both facetoface and virtually.
  • Observe and evaluate teacher candidates offering experienced and objective perspectives on areas such as classroom effectiveness instruction and classroom management.
  • Work collaboratively with teacher candidates to identify specific areas of challenge or interest enabling them to actively engage in their own learning and improve analyze or reassess their practice.
  • Assist as needed with difficulties concerns and problems pertaining to student teachers interns principals and mentor teachers.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work with mentor teachers the credential analyst faculty and the Dean of Human Development & Education to provide comprehensive support to teacher candidates.
  • Participate in Student Teaching and Intern Orientations to facilitate a smooth onboarding process.
  • Participate in the evaluation of candidates and assist mentor teachers in submitting evaluations.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Complete and submit observation feedback forms and other deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Participate in department trainings meetings events and other College requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of current best practices in education is required.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate effectively using Canvas Pacific Oaks Colleges learning management system.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Organization and Task Management:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint etc.

Commitment:

  • Commitment to support the mission of Pacific Oaks College.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel frequently.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Masters degree from a regionallyaccredited institution is required.

Experience:

  • At least three years of fulltime experience teaching students in a public school setting is preferred.
  • A current credential or equivalent experience in educator preparation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quite to moderately noisy while in the office. The office temperature is about 70 degrees.

DECISION MAKING:

The position is governed by the policies of Pacific Oaks along with established procedures for the department. Independent judgment is required in the supervision of personnel as well as in the carrying out of the departments strategic goals and budget management.

CONTACT RESPONSIBILITIES:

Routine exchange or presentation of information.

Responsible for demonstrating professionalism and leadership in resolving conflicts with students and employees. Recommends alternative approaches to solve problems and conflicts.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not require the management of budgets but it is required to follow Pacific Oaks policies for purchasing and budget approvals.
